It was really amazing seeing all the different pugs going on in that mumble. I'll definitely be joining more of those. Lots of fun.

It was a good instructive session. It lasted about 4-5 hours as well if you stayed the whole time. Some of the mentors even gave 1 on 1 time to players as well - an added bonus. Keep it up.

I just want to say thank you for all the guys that helped out last night. And everybody should message M0nster and tell him how awesome of a job he did because he single handed organized all 4 pugs at once and did it at a crazy speed so props to m0nster!

We had a really good turnout last night and I'm hoping for just as many if not more this night. So if you're not doing anything tonight come help out some guys!

Great turnout last night for sure. In the 2 pugs I helped with I saw Maniac, Che, Kaytee, Blaze, Black Dynamite, Giffy, Shwan, Mausy all helping. And huge props to Monster for organising all those pugs and getting himself banned from mumble haha. Heck the turnout was so good you guys need a bigger mumble, for a longtime it was 100/100 full.

I thought last night was a great success. I was glad that monster stepped in and brought some organization to so many people. Pet and Giffy are always too busy braiding each others hair and shit to organize that many people. On the real I think its a really great thing what all of you guys have done and I think you have helped competitive TF2 in a huge way. Pet and Giffy you guys should probably be given some e-fashion to honor your efforts. If I had 3d modeling skills I would design both of you an unusual wrist-brace for your respective classes with community sparkle so everyone in-game would know you as the pioneers of this newbie mix thing. Keep up the good work and I will continue to support you in anyway I can.

Thanks for the rollout help earlier, BD. That coaching + 4-5 hours of pug just increased my odds of a successful switch to demo from about 5% to maybe 40% :p.

Shoutout to monster for getting this thing to work. It took about 20 mins to get it rolling, but then it seemed to flow quickly from pug to pug.

shutup, where were you when i couldn't get any mentors to help and had to run the whole thing myself, past my bedtime, with giffy off hot tub longboarding?

thanks to monster and shwan for running it last night and all the other people who helped, keep doing it so i don't have to, so i can focus on pretending to mentor while i instead berate players for their incompetence

Hey guys, we had a wonderful turn out last night and we will be doing the same thing again tonight!

Some thoughts: First of all, a huge huge huge thank you to all the mentors that came out, without you, none of this could have happened. I saw on multiple occasions that a pug would end but the mentors would stay in the channel with a few of the new players and go over some of the finer points. It was really quite wonderful to see. Tonight I will try to get things started a little bit earlier, say at around 8est. Thanks to S, we worked out a decent system for organizing all the players by their respective classes in mumble channels, with the mentors staying in the main channel so that I could divvy them up.

I think that if we used a pugna-esque system, where coaches added up with .add coach and the new players added up regularly, then their bot could be re-written to work for what we want. Anybody have any know-how or motivation to help me do that, then that would be wonderful.

We had a grand total of 34 games played last night, with the most going on at one time being 5. That's 60 people playing tf2 at one time, with only about 10 mentors. We have even more players in the group now, and I am really excited to see how many players we can get in tonight.

New Mumble:

chi6.eoreality.net;64746 password: tf2pug

It is a 250 slot mumble so we should be able to accommodate everybody that could possibly show up. Also I won't get banned for kicking the owner while desperately trying to make room.

Invite your friends! Spread the word! Tonight at 8est!

I might make it later tonight after I come back from the MLS opener.

Are we going to keep this on Fridays AND Saturdays? Or will it default to just being on Friday considering how many new people you now have to manage?

How does this work for people with a few seasons experience, btw?

I'm not brand new, but compared to all the coaches I'm pretty bad. I wouldn't feel comfortable trying to coach an entire team, but I could help out new roamers.
